Remote Learning
Supplies
This school year, you have been challenged to take on learning from home. Although we are unsure of how long this will continue on for, please know there are still many AMAZING things you can learn and do from home as it relates to Art! In order to accommodate everyone, Mrs. Speech has put together an alternative curriculum that focuses mostly on Art History, but there is still going to be weekly hands-on Art creation too. Due to limited access of various art supplies, all required projects will be created with materials that were listed on your school supply list for the year, or from things that can easily be found around the house. If you have your own "fancier" art supplies, please feel free to use them. All students will need the following materials:
- Pencil / eraser
- Plain paper (i.e. computer, construction, or sketch paper... no lined paper!)
- Assorted markers & colored pencils
- Fine-tip / ultra fine-tip black sharpie markers
- Ruler
- Scissors, glue-stick, and/or tape
- Chromebooks

Student Participation Expectations
Each school day, you are expected to work for up to 30 minutes on your daily Art assignments. You will find these assignments posted every day by 7:30am on the "7th Grade Art" Google Classroom page. Since Mrs. Speech will be posting new daily assignments often, you need to be checking your assignments every single school day to make sure you are keeping up with things. These daily assignments will focus primarily on Art History and introducing you to new artists and feature content such as videos, tutorials, supplemental handouts, readings, and/or quizzes that must be completed for credit. Again, it is your responsibility to keep up with these assignments.
Although each assignment will have a designated due date, all lessons are pre-recorded and DO NOT involve live teaching. You should work on assignments independently and at your own pace. Here is a break down of the daily schedule for middle school students:

As you can see, Art classes are held during periods 6, 7, and 8 daily. This time period of 1:00-2:20pm is also going to act as my virtual office hours for students. If you need to talk to me via video conference, this would be the time to do it! Just reach out through the Google Meets Link which will be shared daily on your Google Classroom stream (it is not open to the public). Office hours for each class will correlate with their assigned times (i.e. Period 6 will have office hours between 1-1:27pm daily, etc). Again, THIS IS NOT A MANDATORY MEETING NOR IS IT REQUIRED. It is simply a way to ask me questions about assignments face-to-face if you need help with anything. Please do not log onto the meet if this does not pertain to you.
I will always be directly available during normal school hours, Monday-Friday (7:30am-3:05pm) to answer any questions you have, simply send an email to [email protected] or reach out through Google Classroom for help.
Be sure to have all materials turned in (digitally on Google Classroom or Artsonia) to get credit for everything you are doing. Work submissions are usually due every day by 11:30pm. Some hands-on art assignments may require extended time. Late assignments will be accepted as long as you have reached out to Mrs. Speech with regards to your individual situation.

How to publish to Artsonia
Throughout the course of the trimester, students will be required to turn in their hand-made artwork through Artsonia which is our school's online digital art gallery. Watch the video below for directions on how to upload your artwork directly to Artsonia.
